AOC threw down a new trio of displays here yesterday, and we had the pleasure of stopping by to check 'em out in NYC. You've already had a chance to wade through all the specs and official verbiage surrounding the 42-inch
L42H861 LCD HDTV, 22-inch
2218Ph LCD monitor and 22-inch
2230Fm do-it-all display, so how's about some good old fashioned pictures? We must say we were quite pleased with the image quality and overall design, though the anti-gloss crowd should probably look out. Also of note, the built-in media player on the 2230Fm was incapable of playing back HD clips, so yeah, kind of a bummer there. Anywho, dip on into the gallery below and have a look around.

While we were all out celebrating our Independence Day this year, the wary citizens of Gdansk, Poland were gawking at a working UFO soaring through their skies. Created by crafty American trickster/artist Peter Coffin, the UFO flashed 3,000 individually controlled LED lights across a seven meter diameter frame and was powered by an onboard 6 kilowatt generator.
The UFO made its debut at the Gdansk Festival of Stars, taking off from the nearby town of Sopot at sunset and flying along the coast until it reached the center of Gdansk. Sadly, the structure was quite obviously being lifted around by a helicopter, so enterprising Polish Mulders and Scullys will have to figure out something else to want to believe in.

This'll come as no surprise to those of you that've been following our
worldwide line / stock watch, but with lines hitting six hours long, Apple's started capping them so that stores can close and prepare for tomorrow. Reports of line capping are coming mostly from larger stores in the East Coast and Midwest, but the Glendale Apple store in California is reportedly capped as well. Interestingly, while carrier stores worldwide have all sold out, we've heard that most Apple stores have had more than enough inventory -- one tipster reported that delivery trucks were being used to store overflow, since the main stock rooms were full at his local store -- so we're guessing the lines have more to do with the
slowness of the activation process catching Apple off-guard. It certainly wasn't smooth sailing today, but eventually things
started working, and it seems like anger's turned to love for a lot of folks. And isn't that the basis of every good relationship? Oh, right. So who's going to get up and do this all again with us tomorrow?

When Popcorn Hour's Networked Media Tank / A-100
went on sale earlier this year, we didn't really foresee it gaining so much fanfare. Even months after launch the unit still had a waiting list, and just recently has the commotion died down enough so that supply and demand
could meet in beautiful harmony. In all honesty, we haven't
heard many negative feelings towards this potent little media server, but as these things go, there's always room -- if but a crack -- for improvement. So, what features would you like to see on the A-100 that aren't there currently? Who knows, Popcorn Hour may grant your wishes in one of its
potentially forthcoming successors.
